As Jesus taught, our desire is to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love our neighbors. We also want to go and make disciples of all nations. This is our mission.

Elder Kelvin Shephard and Missionary Cynthia Shephard, pastor and first lady of Victorious Overcomers

Together they shepherd this house with warmth and conviction—preaching the uncompromised Word, pouring into families, and leading the congregation to know Christ and make Him known throughout Hockley and beyond.

Elder Kelvin Shephard has pastored Victorious Overcomers for almost two decades, serving alongside Missionary Cynthia Shephard—his wife of 31 years. It is his heart's desire to preach the Word, and to live according to the Word he preaches.

What we believe

Our Statement of Faith

As a Church of God in Christ congregation, we stand on these biblical truths.

  1. The Bible

    We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible written Word of God.

  2. One God

    We believe that there is only One God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and, God the Holy Spirit.

  3. The Blessed Hope

    We believe in the blessed Hope, which is the rapture of the Church of God, which is in Christ, at His return.

  4. Salvation

    We believe that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious Blood of Jesus Christ.

  5. Regeneration

    We believe that regeneration by the Holy Ghost is absolutely essential for personal salvation.

  6. Divine Healing

    We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the Cross provides healing for the human body in answer to believing prayer.

  7. Baptism of the Holy Spirit

    We believe that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for it.

  8. Sanctification

    We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy and separated life in the present world.
